Pluto square natal Venus
♇ □ ♀ — transiting Pluto at 90° to Venus in your birth chart.
Pluto square natal Venus is the period when transiting Pluto sits within 3° of a 90° angle to the degree Venus held at your birth. Successive squares to one degree fall between 83.6 and 161.5 years apart, and the window itself runs a median 192 days — with the slowest tenth past 1152.

Without JavaScript, or before the calculator loads, the table below is the answer at Venus-sign resolution. Your own window is a slice of your sign's band: the band is when the contact reaches some degree of your sign, your window is when it reaches yours.
| Your Venus sign | Status | Window (3° orb) | Branch | Then |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | beyond 2065 | 2154–2187 (year resolution) | waxing | — |
| Taurus | in orb now | 3 Feb 2022 → 31 Jan 2046 (split by a retrograde) | waning | — |
| Gemini | upcoming | 4 May 2040 → 1 Jan 2065 (split by a retrograde) | waning | — |
| Cancer | upcoming | 24 Apr 2064 → 1 Sep 2064 | waning | — |
| Leo | beyond 2065 | 2092–2132 (year resolution) | waning | — |
| Virgo | beyond 2065 | 2123–2162 (year resolution) | waning | — |
| Libra | beyond 2065 | 2154–2187 (year resolution) | waning | — |
| Scorpio | in orb now | 3 Feb 2022 → 31 Jan 2046 (split by a retrograde) | waxing | — |
| Sagittarius | upcoming | 4 May 2040 → 1 Jan 2065 (split by a retrograde) | waxing | — |
| Capricorn | upcoming | 24 Apr 2064 → 1 Sep 2064 | waxing | — |
| Aquarius | beyond 2065 | 2092–2132 (year resolution) | waxing | — |
| Pisces | beyond 2065 | 2123–2162 (year resolution) | waxing | — |
Each window is the contiguous period in which transiting Pluto is within 3° of square to any degree of that sign. Waxing = Pluto ahead of the Venus's degree; waning = behind.
What the contact means
What is actually being contacted
Natal Venus is the chart's principle of valuation: what a person is drawn towards, what they find worth having, and what they treat as beautiful. Relationship reading follows from that, but it is downstream of it, and the distinction is worth holding onto — the geometry marks a faculty, not a set of other people. A page that turns every Venus contact into a forecast about partners has quietly swapped a chart factor for a plot summary.
Same modality, different element
A square is 90°, and because the signs cycle through cardinal, fixed and mutable in a fixed order, two points that far apart nearly always share a mode while differing in element. Both push in the same manner and disagree about the direction. Neither is passive, so the tension does not dissipate by being left alone — the tradition's reading of squares as friction that has to be discharged through action comes straight out of that structure rather than out of convention.
The recurrence is not a constant, and this is measurable
Reference tables give Pluto a 248-year orbit and readers reasonably infer a steady 124-year rhythm for its squares. Measured across 262 intervals on 1801-01-01–2398-01-01, weekly lattice, the real gap between consecutive squares to a single degree runs 83.6–161.5 years, median 116.5. The cause is orbital eccentricity — Pluto takes about twelve years to cross Scorpio and over thirty to cross Taurus — and it means the interval you get depends on where your Venus sits, not on an average anyone can quote.
Duration, and why it dwarfs the aspect
A median 192 days in orb, a p90 of 1152 days and a longest observed passage of 1411. It is worth noticing that these are the same figures the Pluto conjunction pages carry, and that is not an oversight: at a fixed orb envelope the time a contact stays in effect is a function of how fast the transiting body is moving when it arrives, not of which angle it makes. The aspect changes the reading; it does not change the clock.
Why two opposite signs are always flagged together
The table above never shows one sign in orb on its own. Whatever is 90° from your Venus is also 90° from the degree facing it, and that pair sits half a zodiac apart — so Pluto squaring a Taurus Venus is squaring a Scorpio Venus on the same days, approaching one from ahead and the other from behind. The tradition reads those two situations differently, which is why the branch column is computed rather than left for the reader to derive.
Three crossings or five
Of 288 decidable contacts, 102 perfected three times and 186 five; none perfected once. Pluto's yearly retrograde retraces only a couple of degrees, but the planet moves so little in a year that the loop always catches what it has just passed. A five-crossing series is one passage with five dated moments in it, and the value of the dates is that they give a long stretch some structure to compare against.
The limit of the claim
Cosmic KPI computes the window, the crossings, and the concentration of the sky around them. It does not predict outcomes in anyone's relationships or finances, and no Pluto–Venus angle entails a particular event. What is on offer is exact dating with the arithmetic visible.
How this transit appears in Cosmic KPI
A contact that can hold orb for three years is the case where a single date is least useful and a measured curve is most: the pressure timeline shows the whole raised stretch, the terminal reports the live orb closing, and the calendar feed marks each crossing so the passage has landmarks.

Common questions
- How long does Pluto square Venus last?
- A median 192 days at the 3° envelope, p10 51 and p90 1152, longest observed 1411 days across 108 windows on 2020-01-01–2065-01-01, daily lattice.
- How often does Pluto square Venus?
- Twice per circuit, at intervals of 83.6–161.5 years depending on the degree — median 116.5 across 262 measured intervals. The variation is Pluto's eccentric orbit rather than measurement noise.
- Why do two opposite signs share the same window?
- Because the 90° relationship has two solutions, one on either side of the natal degree, and they sit half a zodiac apart. Squaring one sign therefore squares its opposite on the same dates, approached from the other direction. The branch column says which of the two — waxing or waning — each sign receives.
- Is Pluto squaring my Venus now?
- Pluto is at 3.6° Aquarius as of 2026-08-24. Venus can occupy several different signs for the same birth date depending on the year, so a birthday alone will not tell you — the calculator on this page computes the degree and then the window.
