Pluto conjunct natal Sun

♇ ☌ ☉ — transiting Pluto on the exact degree of your natal Sun.

Pluto conjunct natal Sun is transiting Pluto arriving on the very degree the Sun occupied at your birth, and holding within 3° of it. A given degree receives this once in about 245 years, so it is a once-in-a-lifetime contact at most and most charts never get one; where it does land, the window runs a median 192 days.

Without JavaScript, or before the calculator loads, the table below is the answer at Sun-sign resolution. Your own window is a slice of your sign's band: the band is when the contact reaches some degree of your sign, your window is when it reaches yours.

Each window is the contiguous period in which transiting Pluto is within 3° of conjunction to any degree of that sign. Waxing = Pluto ahead of the Sun's degree; waning = behind.

What the contact means

The rarest contact in the book

Almost every transit page describes something that recurs. This one does not. Pluto needs roughly 245 years to return to a given zodiac degree, measured across 95 intervals on 1801-01-01–2398-01-01, weekly lattice. A human lifetime covers between thirty and fifty degrees of Pluto's travel, so whether this contact happens to you at all is decided by an accident of where your Sun sits relative to the arc Pluto crosses while you are alive. The cohort table above is the whole answer to "will I get this one": if your Sun sign is not flagged with a dated window, it is not in range.

A conjunction is not an aspect between two things

Every other angle describes two points looking at each other across a distance. At 0° there is no distance: the transiting body and the natal point occupy the same degree, and the tradition reads them as fused rather than related. Nothing mediates. Whatever Pluto is taken to mean is not happening *to* the Sun from somewhere else in the chart — for the duration, it is operating from inside the Sun's own position.

What Pluto contributes

Pluto is the tradition's principle of what will not be negotiated with: depth, compulsion, power, and the slow removal of whatever was structurally unable to continue. It is read as transformation rather than change because the tradition does not offer it as reversible. As a measurement it is the slowest signal a chart has, and slowness is the entire character of it: where a Mars contact is over in a week, this one has a p90 of 1152 days and a longest observed passage of 1411 days. Nearly four years within three degrees.

What the Sun contributes

The natal Sun is the centre a chart is organised around — identity, vitality, and the conscious will. It is not one department of a life, it is the vantage point from which the departments are seen. A conjunction from Pluto therefore does not localise: the tradition reads it as the organising centre itself being under pressure, which is why it is treated as one of the heaviest single contacts in the literature and why the duration matters more than the date.

Three crossings or five, never one

Pluto's yearly retrograde loop retraces only a couple of degrees, but the planet moves so slowly forward that the loop always catches what it has just passed. Over 144 decidable contacts on the long baseline, 51 perfected three times and 93 perfected five. A single-crossing Pluto conjunction did not occur once in the sample. The practical consequence is that this contact has no anniversary: it has a first crossing, a set of returns, and a last one, spread across years.

What this page does not claim

Cosmic KPI dates the window and measures how concentrated the sky is inside it. No arrangement of Pluto and the Sun corresponds to a specific outcome, and this page does not offer one. What it can give you is a bounded period, the exact crossings inside it, and the arithmetic behind both.

How this transit appears in Cosmic KPI

A Pluto conjunction is the clearest case for measuring rather than dating: on the pressure timeline it is a raised floor lasting years, with the exact crossings as low, wide peaks on top. Cosmic KPI shows the floor and the peaks together, which is the only way to see that the contact is one event and not five.

The Cosmic KPI pressure timeline, with a slow outer-planet contact showing as a raised band and its exact hits as peaks.

Common questions

How often is Pluto conjunct the Sun?
Once every 245 years for a fixed natal degree — measured at a median 245 years across 95 intervals on 1801-01-01–2398-01-01, weekly lattice. Because a lifetime covers only thirty to fifty degrees of Pluto's travel, most people never receive this contact and nobody receives it twice.
How long does Pluto conjunct Sun last?
A median 192 days inside the 3° envelope, with the slowest tenth running past 1152 days and the longest observed passage 1411 days. The spread is Pluto's orbital eccentricity: near aphelion it covers barely a degree a year, so the same six degrees of orb take several times longer to cross.
How many times is Pluto conjunct Sun exact?
Three or five times, never once. Of 144 decidable contacts, 51 crossed three times and 93 crossed five. The count is always odd because the body enters and leaves the contact point from opposite sides.
Is Pluto conjunct my Sun right now?
As of 2026-08-24 Pluto is at 3.6° Aquarius, so the conjunction is in orb only for Suns within three degrees of that. The table on this page gives the window for every Sun sign, and the calculator turns your birth date into your own dates.
