An opposition has an axis; a square does not

This is the distinction that gets flattened in most writing, and it is structural rather than a matter of degree. At 180° the two points sit in signs of the same modality and complementary elements, facing each other across a shared line. That gives the tradition something a square cannot: an axis on which the tension can be balanced rather than only discharged. The classical reading of an opposition is therefore negotiation, projection and mirroring — the qualities of the natal point turning up as though they came from outside — where a square is read as friction that has to be spent in action.

Once per orbit, like a conjunction

A body opposes a natal point once per circuit, exactly as it conjoins it once — the two contact points of an opposition coincide, unlike a square's two. So this contact shares the conjunction's rhythm rather than the square's: a median 83.9 years, measured over 443 intervals on 1801-01-01–2398-01-01, weekly lattice, in a tight 83.1–84 band because Uranus's orbit is nearly circular. Longer than a lifetime, so nobody meets it twice.

Uranus against the valuing faculty

Venus is what a chart is drawn towards and treats as worth having; Uranus is what does not fit the existing arrangement. Across an axis, the tradition reads that as value being met by its own unassimilated opposite — which is the origin of every "sudden attraction" reading this contact attracts. Worth being precise about what is and is not claimed there: the geometry marks a window in which the question of what one values is live and being met from the outside. It does not contain a person, an event, or a date on which something occurs.

Three crossings, usually

463 of 488 decidable contacts perfected three times against 25 that perfected once. Uranus advances about four degrees a year and retraces about four in its annual loop, so a contact it has just made is nearly always re-crossed. The consequence for reading is that the window has structure: a median of 141 days, a p90 of 390 and a longest observed 400, with three dated crossings inside it rather than one.

Why the duration is the same as every other Uranus contact

That is not duplication — at a fixed 3° envelope, how long a contact holds is a function of the transiting body's speed when it arrives, not of the angle it makes. Uranus crosses six degrees of orb at the same rate whether those degrees sit at 0°, 90° or 180° from your Venus. What the aspect changes is the reading, not the clock.
