Saturn Return Calculator

Your exact Saturn return dates, computed from your birth date. No account, no birth time needed.

A Saturn return is the period when transiting Saturn comes back to the exact zodiac longitude it held at your birth. The first one lands between ages 28.4 and 29.9 — median 29.5; the spread is real, not rounding — and the second near 59. This calculator computes the exact dates from your birth date using Swiss Ephemeris positions.

Computes your natal Saturn longitude, then every crossing of it by transiting Saturn — exact dates, the in-orb span, and which pass is retrograde. Runs live against the same Swiss Ephemeris endpoints the app uses. Your birth date is sent to the ephemeris endpoint to compute a position and is never stored.

Computed 2026-08-24 · Swiss Ephemeris 2.10.03 (pyswisseph) via POST /api/scan · 3° canonical envelope (CANONICAL_PRESSURE_ORB). The calculator above runs live against the same engine. Recomputed on every deploy.

What the result means structurally

28.4–29.9
age at first return
median 29.5. "Age 29" is an average, not a constant — the length of one cycle depends on where in the zodiac your natal Saturn sits.
33%
have three crossings
the rest have one. Two is impossible: the crossing count in a return is always odd.
29.46 yr
Saturn's orbit
so the second return lands near 59 and the third near 88.
≤ 8′/day
Saturn's motion
which is why a birth time is not needed for this calculation.

A first return is the same geometry as a second or third; what differs is the length of the cycle being closed. The calculator labels each one and shows the retrograde passes, because a three-pass return spreads one contact across three dates months apart, and the middle one is the retrograde crossing.

How this appears in Cosmic KPI

Cosmic KPI plots the Saturn return alongside every other cycle in the chart — Jupiter return, Uranus opposition, nodal and Chiron eras — on one timeline, with the exact crossings dated and the surrounding pressure measured rather than described. This calculator is one row of that page, unlocked.

Common questions

When is my Saturn return?
Enter your birth date above and the calculator returns the exact crossing dates and the in-orb span. Across birth years 1960–2005 the first return lands between ages 28.4 and 29.9, median 29.5. The spread is real: Saturn's orbit is eccentric, so the length of one return cycle depends on where in the zodiac your natal Saturn sits.
Do I need my birth time for a Saturn return?
No. Saturn moves at most about 8 arcminutes a day, so an unknown birth time shifts the return date by well under a day. Birth time matters for the Ascendant, Midheaven and Moon — not for Saturn.
How long does a Saturn return last?
The exact crossing is one instant; the in-orb period around it is what people mean by "the return". At a 1° orb a single-pass return runs about seven weeks. When Saturn's retrograde loop catches the return there are three crossings and the whole span runs closer to ten months — which happens for 33% of the birth years in the table below.
Why does my Saturn return have three dates?
Because Saturn stationed retrograde after the first crossing and went back over your natal degree, then turned direct and crossed a third time. The count of crossings in one return is always odd — one or three, never two. The calculator labels which pass is which.
What does a Saturn return mean?
Traditionally it is read as a maturity threshold: the end of one Saturn cycle and the start of the next, when the structures built over the previous 29.5 years are reviewed. Cosmic KPI dates the window and measures the sky inside it; the Life Cycles guide covers the traditional reading in full.
