A planet moving forward through the signs, the ordinary state for everything except during retrograde. What stalled while the planet was retrograde tends to start moving again. Direct motion is only worth naming as the other half of a retrograde cycle — it is what every planet is doing the rest of the time.

The third and final pass of a retrograde-period contact is made direct, and it is the one that tends to conclude what the first two opened.
